



Karl Murray's Story - Exceed Coaching
Karl's Story
One of NZs most experienced road racers; Karl first represented NZ as Junior at the 1993 Oceania Games where he came home with both the Time Trail and Road Race Gold Medals. Karl then spent time racing in France and competed in pro international events such as the Tour of Langkawi. He has won the U23 NZ Road Race Title and the Oceania Games U23 Road Race Title then went on to representing NZ at the World Road Championships. He has won the Sprinters Jersey in the Tour of Southland along with a stage win and finished 2nd at the 2007 NZ Club Road Race Championships and Finished 2nd overall in the hilly Tour of New Caledonia after winning a stage and the Yellow Jersey. 2008 saw the birth of his Twin boys and many thought this would be the end of the results but he proved them wrong by Winning the Auckland 1000 for the 2nd time and Finishing 2nd again in the K2 putting him 2nd in the National points Series. 2010 Karl won the ITT M1 at the NZ club road championships and went back to win the Road Race a year later.
Karl has learned the skill of bike fitting at the Serotta school of Pro bike fitting where he has returned from New York with a huge amount of knowledge that complements his Experience nicely. He has passed on his knowledge to School teams and has one of his Athletes finish 5th at the Junior World Champs. He exceeds himself with a combination of intelligent training, tactics and equipment selection. He draws on a wealth of experience in assisting Exceed Coaching clients from riding a bike better to understanding how to race more intelligently. Athletes who have to juggle work and training will appreciate his low volume approach to achieving at the highest level.
Karl’s continuing passion for cycling has resulted in his decision to provide online coaching for professional and recreational riders with the desire and dedication to be the best that they can be.
